Lacing and tying your boots with gloves on sucks. It is virtually impossible. It never fails that you have to adjust your boots on the hill, in the driving snow forcing you to take the gloves of and bear the frigid weather.
I set out to tackle this problem and thought why not use a cleat to make it easy to grab the fat laces. It sounds obvious, but i’d never seen that before. I set to designing a solution that would allow the user to simple drag the boot laces across the cleat in opposing directions and they would automatically secure themselves.
Thinking about productizing the idea, it had to be intuitive and simple to use, low cost in both materials and assembly costs, durable for the extreme exposure to weather and needs to look cool.
